πŸ“š Know the 8 most common scam types

Advance-fee / upfront payment

Signs: You must pay a fee before you can 'start earning', receive a prize, or unlock a job.

Do: Never pay to get paid. Walk away β€” legitimate opportunities don't charge you to begin.

Fake job / task scam

Signs: Vague 'work from home' role, huge pay for little work, hired with no real interview, asked to buy equipment or handle payments.

Do: Verify the company independently, never accept 'overpayment' checks, and never forward money.

Crypto investment / 'pig butchering'

Signs: A new online contact guides you to a 'high-return' crypto platform and you can't withdraw profits without fees.

Do: Assume it's fake. Stop sending funds and report it β€” withdrawal fees on 'profits' are the trap.

MLM / pyramid recruitment

Signs: Income depends mainly on recruiting others; big upfront 'starter kits'; focus on the 'opportunity', not a real product.

Do: Ask what you earn from product sales alone. If it's mostly recruiting, treat it as a pyramid.

Phishing

Signs: Unexpected message says your account has a problem and links you to 'verify' login or payment details.

Do: Don't click. Go to the real site directly and log in there. Report the message as phishing.

Romance / trust scam

Signs: Fast online romance, never video-calls, then asks for money for an emergency or an 'investment'.

Do: Never send money to someone you haven't met in person. The emotional story is the hook.

Fake shopping site

Signs: Prices too good to be true, no real contact info, brand-new domain, only pays by wire/crypto/gift card.

Do: Search reviews of the domain, check its age, and pay only via reversible methods β€” or skip it.

Get-rich 'guru' course

Signs: Screenshots of huge income, pressure to buy a pricey course now, secret 'method', upsell after upsell.

Do: The networks and skills are usually free to start. Learn first, buy only after you've earned.
